Senior Agronomist, Precision Agriculture

Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural technology company, is seeking an experienced Senior Agronomist specializing in precision agriculture. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining field-based activities with remote data analysis and strategic planning, and is based in our dynamic hub in Austin, Texas, US . You will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced agricultural strategies that optimize crop production, resource efficiency, and environmental sustainability through the use of data-driven technologies. This position requires a deep understanding of crop science, soil health, data analytics, and emerging agricultural technologies. Key Responsibilities: Design and oversee the implementation of precision agriculture programs for various crops, utilizing technologies such as GPS, VRT (Variable Rate Technology), remote sensing, and IoT devices. Analyze soil, weather, and crop data to provide actionable recommendations for farmers and agricultural clients. Develop best-practice guidelines for nutrient management, irrigation, pest control, and crop rotation tailored to specific farm conditions. Evaluate and integrate new agricultural technologies and data platforms to enhance decision-making and farm operations. Conduct field research and trials to validate the effectiveness of precision agriculture techniques and new crop management strategies. Provide technical expertise and training to farm managers, agronomists, and field representatives on precision agriculture principles and technologies. Collaborate with R&D teams to develop innovative solutions that address agricultural challenges. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders. Stay current with the latest advancements in agronomy, soil science, agricultural engineering, and digital agriculture. Manage project timelines and deliverables related to precision agriculture initiatives. Qualifications: Master's degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in agronomy, with a significant focus on precision agriculture and data management. Proven expertise in crop physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management. Strong understanding of precision agriculture technologies, including GPS, GIS, VRT, remote sensing, and data analytics platforms. Proficiency in data analysis software and tools (e.g., R, Python, farm management software). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment, with regular fieldwork. Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
