About STEMAIVERSE STEMAIVERSE is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to designing, delivering, and scaling world-class STEM, AI, and Space education programs in the K-12, teacher training, and workforce preparation spaces. Our Mission is to prepare students and educators across the nation to learn, think, and lead in a world shaped by rapidly evolving technology. Through immersive, hands-on programs, digital learning experiences, and educator development, we empower every learner with the confidence, technical fluency, and critical thinking skills needed to explore boldly, create meaningfully, and solve complex problems. We are committed to expanding opportunity in STEM by ensuring that at least 60% of those we serve each year come from underserved and rural communities, building clear pathways from classroom learning to future-ready careers. STEMAIVERSE was formally incorporated as a nonprofit in August 2025. We are not yet one year old, yet we have built remarkable support and momentum in a short amount of time due to the depth of our experience and contacts:

  • White House Task Force on AI Education:

One of 52 tech organizations invited to the White House in September 2025 for the second Task Force on AI Education meeting, focused on public-private partnerships for increasing AI literacy;

  • U.S. State Department “Fostering the Future Together" Summit:

One of 28 tech organizations invited to the global coalition summit in March 2026, dedicated to empowering children through education and technology;

  • U.S. Dept of Energy, Office of Science (WDTS):

Invited contributor to official Presidential AI Resources at AI.gov;

  • Oak Ridge Institute for Science & Education:

Invited judge to the Presidential AI Challenge;

  • We have active university partnerships with chancellor-level letters of support across three states, and a formal letter of support from a state higher education commission executive director;
  • Signed MOUs, letters of support, and/or partnerships with ten public school districts, and over a dozen workforce organizations, aerospace consortia, space grant organizations, technology partners, and advanced manufacturing partners across three states;
  • Retired NASA astronauts, nationally recognized AI-in-education experts, and international space entrepreneurs are regular STEMAIVERSE program contributors;
  • We have active or developing programs in Texas, Arkansas, and Tennessee, with more in progress.

The Role This is a Volunteer, Remote Board Director position on a working board. You will serve as a Board Director with an initial focus on grant development, fundraising, and compliance, with a natural pathway to a board officer position as trust is built and results are demonstrated. There is no salary or retainer with this position. What there is: a seat at the table of an organization in the early stages of something real, the credibility of a board position with a nationally-recognized portfolio, and a documented pathway — written into our bylaws — for board directors to receive reasonable compensation for specific services rendered as funded programs are awarded and executed. Grant writers and administrators who help develop funded programs can be written into grant budgets for those programs. That is how our founding directors are structured, and it is how this role is intended to grow.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a member of the Board of Directors, attending quarterly board meetings (virtual) and engaging actively between meetings (during our current build phase, we connect weekly--virtually--as a working team)
  • Co-develop grant proposals with the founding team, contributing subject matter expertise, writing, and compliance knowledge
  • Support organizational compliance and risk management as STEMAIVERSE scales across multiple states
  • Apply your professional network and expertise to help identify and pursue funding opportunities aligned with our programs
  • Fulfill a give/get financial commitment: personally contribute at a meaningful level, and/or help raise an equivalent amount annually through your network and relationships

Who We're Looking For

  • You have real experience with at least one of the following: grant writing and administration (you've won grants before and know how to execute them), nonprofit compliance and regulatory requirements, nonprofit finance.
  • You understand what funders look for and how organizations like ours have to be structured to be taken seriously at the next level.
  • You are genuinely mission-driven. STEM equity, AI education, and workforce development in underserved communities isn't a resume item for you — it's someth
