Position: Physical Therapist - Outpatient (Days) Location: Sault Ste. Marie, MI (Remote applications considered, with travel to outpatient clinics as needed) Employment Type: Permanent - Part-Time Compensation & Benefits:

Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our outpatient care team. This role involves performing patient assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing therapy interventions to enhance patients' functional abilities. The position may include float responsibilities to acute care settings, ensuring comprehensive patient care across a variety of clinical environments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments utilizing formal and informal testing to determine neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal status.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop goal-specific treatment regimes based on assessment data, patient tolerance, and physician orders. Collaborate with physicians to submit and update treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Intervention Delivery: Administer appropriate therapy interventions, including exercise, modalities, and education, tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Patient & Family Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment rationales, and home exercise programs to promote adherence and recovery.
  • Supervision & Leadership: Oversee the work of Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, and students, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting team collaboration.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient care, responses to treatment, and changes in patient condition in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
  • Equipment & Support: Recommend adaptive or supportive devices, assist in securing equipment, and coordinate with suppliers as needed.
  • Community Engagement: Promote awareness of physical therapy services through community initiatives and participate in educational outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state of Michigan
  • Prior experience in outpatient therapy, with adaptability to float to acute care settings preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and healthcare documentation systems
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, walking, and postural changes regularly
  • Adequate vision and hearing to assess patients and operate equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage stress, and handle sensitive situations involving trauma or grief
  • Compliance with OSHA and infection control protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment
