Job Description

The Post Oak Group is seeking a Managing Director, Investment Banking Team to lead the continued growth of our Middle Market Mergers & Acquisitions advisory practice. This senior leadership role is responsible for originating and closing new client engagements, traveling to meet with business owners, and overseeing the full execution of sell-side M&A transactions from engagement through closing. This role is commission-only. The average performer earns $125,000 per year, while top performers can make up to $500,000 annually. On average, directors close 50–60 deals per year. Role Overview As Managing Director, Investment Banking Team, you will serve as the senior relationship lead for founders and owners of privately held middle market businesses evaluating strategic alternatives such as a sale, recapitalization, or other liquidity events. You will be responsible for converting qualified opportunities into signed engagements, meeting directly with clients to build trust and credibility, and leading the execution team through the successful completion of each transaction. This position requires strong executive presence, transaction leadership experience, and the ability to manage high-stakes processes with professionalism and discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead advisory consultations with owners of middle market businesses
  • Close new sell-side M&A engagements and execute engagement letters
  • Travel to meet with prospective and existing clients to build relationships and advance transactions
  • Present The Post Oak Group’s M&A process, positioning, and value proposition
  • Assess transaction readiness, valuation expectations, and strategic objectives
  • Oversee full deal execution, including marketing, buyer outreach, negotiations, and closing
  • Lead and mentor internal deal teams to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables
  • Serve as senior point of contact throughout the transaction lifecycle
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and manage a disciplined deal pipeline
  • Provide market intelligence and strategic input to firm leadership

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, private equity, or corporate finance
  • Demonstrated track record of closing middle market M&A transactions
  • Strong executive presence and ability to engage credibly with founders and senior leadership teams
  • Experience managing complex transaction processes from engagement through close
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet clients and advance deals
  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a performance-driven, commission-based environment
  • Availability to work 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central Time
  • Open to remote work
