This is an exciting opportunity to join our brand‑new SEN school at a pivotal moment. Havencross School will offer a nurturing and highly supportive environment for primary and secondary‑aged pupils across Key Stages 2–4, welcoming children with Autism, Social, Emotional, Behavioural, Mental Health difficulties, and associated complex needs. As a Teacher at Havencross, you’ll embrace a creative and flexible approach to learning one that sparks curiosity, encourages exploration, and celebrates hands‑on experiences. You’ll have the freedom to design meaningful lessons shaped around each pupil’s needs, interests, and aspirations, using practical activities, real‑world projects, and therapeutic approaches to support academic, social, and emotional growth. Every subject, from Maths and English to Science and Design & Technology, plays a vital role in helping pupils build confidence and essential life skills.

With class sizes of no more than five pupils, you’ll have the time and space to build strong relationships and tailor your teaching to each child’s unique strengths. Working closely with a dedicated team, you’ll help create a safe, engaging, and deeply personalised learning environment where pupils feel understood and valued, and where progress is measured in the ways that matter most to them.

We’ll be following a phased recruitment approach, with our first cohort joining in September. Additional recruitment is planned for the following months.

A day in the life of a Teacher will involve

  • Leading classroom activities including planning, teaching and assessing learning, particularly with ‘your’ class. This might involve a range of subjects and topics and involve pastoral support.
  • Monitoring and recording progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes
  • Working closely with pupils keeping them engaged, motivated and inspired to reach their full potential.
  • Working either 1:1 with pupils, or in small group settings to help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants to direct them to effectively support the pupils.

To be a successful Teacher you’ll need

  • Patience, compassion, and resilience – The pupils you teach will be neurodiverse, which can impact their learning behaviour and communication needs.
  • Great communication skills – Both verbal and written communication is important in this role as you’ll be speaking to a lot of different people at different times. You’ll need to be able to contribute to a range of resources as well as share information effectively.
  • A driving licence — Our pupils love to learn in a wide range of settings. We need you to drive them to where they need to go. We have the cars; you need the licence.
  • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs.

In return for your time, you’ll get
