Precision Agriculture Technologist
We are seeking a forward-thinking Precision Agriculture Technologist to join our innovative team in Jacksonville, Florida, US . This role plays a crucial part in optimizing crop yields and resource management through the application of advanced technologies. You will work with cutting-edge tools such as GPS guidance systems, variable rate application technology, soil sensors, drone imagery, and data analytics platforms to provide actionable insights for our agricultural operations. This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of on-site farm work and remote data analysis and planning. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain precision agriculture equipment, including GPS receivers, controllers, and sensors. Collect, manage, and analyze large datasets related to soil conditions, weather patterns, crop health, and yield. Develop and implement data-driven recommendations for planting, fertilization, irrigation, and pest management. Utilize GIS software and other analytical tools to create detailed field maps and reports. Collaborate with agronomists, farm managers, and equipment operators to ensure the effective implementation of precision techniques. Conduct field scouting and data validation to ensure accuracy of collected information. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural technology and recommend adoption of new tools and methodologies. Train farm personnel on the use of precision agriculture technologies and best practices. Troubleshoot technical issues with precision equipment and software. Contribute to the overall efficiency and sustainability of our farming operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience with precision agriculture technologies and data management. Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python). Familiarity with farm equipment operation and management is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, both in the field and remotely. Willingness to travel to various farm sites as needed. Knowledge of crop science and soil fertility principles. A passion for sustainable agriculture and technological innovation.
