Lead Compliance Assurance Analyst

About the position National Grid is seeking a Lead Compliance Analyst for their Global Chief Risk Office. This role is located in Waltham, Massachusetts, with hybrid working. The Job Purpose is to support the delivery of the Business Unit’s regulatory compliance program, ensuring conformance with internal policies, methodology, relevant regulations, and the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework. The Lead Analyst will be responsible for working with key stakeholders across Business Units to execute the compliance controls testing plan, including raising findings and remediation plans, providing an evaluation of their severity, and reporting to their Line Manager. In addition to the testing program, the Lead Analyst may also be involved in project work, as needed, to optimise and standard internal compliance controls, supporting on the design and implementation of controls, while promoting a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement. Assist with implementation of effective compliance assurance management activities. Able to lead, support and review application of compliance management processes and assess gaps, issues and recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Leads execution of the compliance controls testing plan in line with Group Assurance internal testing methodology and external good practice.
  • Conduct process and design walkthrough meetings, assess for proper process and controls framework, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation in line with good practice related to controls testing, evidence, findings and remediation activities.
  • Monitor remediation plans and ensure appropriate and timely closure. Escalate concerns internally to ensure risk exposures are being managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Performs delivery of thematic reviews and assess and advise on emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare materials, insights and analysis for stakeholder meetings and reporting for Line Manager review.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Risk Office, Group Assurance and Regulatory Compliance teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in assurance field or related professional field.
  • At least part-qualified Professional Assurance Qualification E.g. Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s / Graduate Degree.
  • Experienced in controls testing with sound understanding of industry and external good practice testing methodology from relevant qualification and experience e.g. Accounting, Internal or External Audit Qualification.
  • Able to follow plans and guidance to ensure on-track delivery and provide clear and accurate communication of progress, milestones, issues and outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory orders or governance-driven environments and able to provide clear and insightful updates of status, actions and gaps.
  • Experience in using Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tooling and reporting for controls testing.
  • Should also have strong grasp of visualisation tools (primarily PowerBi).
  • Over 5 years’ experience in controls testing or assurance field (including practice and industry).
  • Proven ability to lead projects and at times, manage multiple priorities required.

  • Experience in Utilities or related industries preferred.
