Technical Assistant
AXIS Capital is a trusted global provider of specialty lines insurance and reinsurance. The Technical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the underwriting process by assisting Underwriters and Account Managers with general underwriting administration, processing, and clerical support activities.
Responsibilities
- Gather and organize information pertinent to insurance applications, including applicant details, risk factors, policy specifications
- Assist in obtaining additional underwriting documents (subjectivities), through timely and diligent follow-ups
- Maintain a diary system to ensure prompt receipt of account information
- Conduct thorough reviews of underwriting documents and policies to ensure accuracy and compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Adhere rigorously to compliance standards while maintaining accurate account files and underwriting documentation
- Provide support in processing policy endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and other policy-related transactions
- Process and book endorsements including premium bearing endorsements within established company Service Level Agreement (SLA) guidelines
- Accurately input account information into Policy Issuance (PIL) and endorsement logs
- Utilize underwriting software for data input and report generation
- Create post-binding E-File in Insurance Desktop (IDT) and update the PIL with account information
- Process various notices and filings such as Broker of Record (BOR) notices, Direct Notices of Cancellation and Motor Carrier Filings
- Handle declination letters, loss control survey inspections and final premium audits
- Complete clearance of New and Renewal Submissions and Account set up as directed
- Engage with internal/external customers to request information, clarify details, and provide updates
- Serve as a point of contact for Operations team and underwriters, providing optimal customer service
- Provide backup support for TA team when needed
- Collaborate effectively with various departments and colleagues to address inquiries, resolve issues, and streamline workflow processes
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Strong aptitude for learning new computer/software programs
- Demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor
- Able to follow directions effectively
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Skilled at prioritizing tasks and highly organized
- Collaborates effectively with team members to achieve goals

- Attentive to detail and accuracy
- Capable of multitasking in a high-volume work environment
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field preferred, but not required
- Preferably a minimum 0-2 years' experience in the commercial insurance industry
