Key Responsibilities – What Your Day‑to‑Day Will Look Like

  • Curriculum Design & Delivery: Plan, develop, and implement age‑appropriate, culturally responsive lesson plans that align with Head Start Performance Standards and Arizona licensing requirements.
  • Individualized Learning Support: Assess each child’s developmental milestones, tailor activities to diverse learning styles, and provide targeted interventions to boost language, literacy, and cognitive growth.
  • Family Engagement & Education: Facilitate parent workshops, home‑based learning activities, and open‑communication channels to empower families as active partners in their children’s education.
  • Classroom Management & Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment; supervise children at all times, ensuring compliance with health, CPR, first‑aid, and food‑handler certifications.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with site supervisors, special‑education staff, and community partners to coordinate services for children with IEPs, 504 plans, or other special needs.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately record attendance, developmental assessments, and progress reports in accordance with federal, state, and Office of Head Start guidelines.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training, webinars, and conferences to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
  • Community Outreach: Represent Maricopa County at local events, school fairs, and hiring drives to promote Head Start programs and recruit families. Essential Qualifications – What You Must Bring
  • Minimum of one year experience teaching in a licensed childcare, public pre‑kindergarten, or Head Start setting.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent degree with at least 18 credit hours in early childhood studies).
  • Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (County will cover renewal fees).
  • Valid CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler certifications obtained within six weeks of hire.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, medical exam (including TB screening), and drug/alcohol testing as required for safety‑sensitive positions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish/English proficiency is highly valued. Preferred Qualifications – What Sets You Apart
