Role Overview

The Senior Analytics Engineer position is a pivotal, part‑time role that blends data entry expertise with sophisticated analytics engineering. Reporting to the Data & Analytics Leadership team, you will partner with cross‑functional groups of data scientists, business intelligence engineers, platform owners, and internal stakeholders to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that power the arenaflex Health Quality Improvement program. This role is fully remote, offering a competitive hourly rate of $30 and the opportunity to influence high‑visibility projects that directly affect patient care and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and orchestrate multi‑layered data pipelines that ingest, transform, and load large volumes of clinical, pharmacy, and claims data from internal arenaflex systems and external sources.
  • ETL/ELT Optimization: Write, tune, and maintain high‑performance SQL‑based ETL/ELT scripts, ensuring data quality, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Data Modeling: Create logical and physical data models that support analytical workloads, reporting tables, and pre‑aggregated data structures for both operational and strategic analytics.
  • Data Integration: Apply best practices for data extraction, transformation, and loading to integrate massive datasets from diverse sources, including pharmacy claims, HEDIS/ECDS records, and clinical case files.
  • Data Profiling & Exploration: Conduct thorough data profiling and exploratory analysis across internal production systems and curated healthcare data sets to uncover data quality issues and opportunities for enrichment.
  • Automation & Tooling: Build internal tools that automate data handling, quality assurance, and validation processes, reducing manual effort and increasing reproducibility.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner closely with business analysts, product owners, and external vendor teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver clear, data‑driven insights.
  • Travel Flexibility: Be prepared to travel up to 5% of the time for on‑site workshops, stakeholder meetings, or industry events, both within the United States and occasionally abroad.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience building and maintaining data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proven expertise in writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL‑based ETL/ELT scripts.
  • Experience with cloud‑based data platforms (e.g., a modern data warehouse solution) and orchestration tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement data models that support analytical reporting and business intelligence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Track record of contributing to data‑driven decision making in a healthcare or financial services context.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that aligns with part‑time hours (approximately 8 hours per day) while meeting project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or equivalent data‑analytics credential.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy, health‑care, and clinical analytics concepts, such as HEDIS, ECDS, and claims processing.
  • Experience with modern data pipeline frameworks (e.g., an arenaflex‑branded data pipeline, cloud data platform) and version‑controlled workflow tools.
  • Exposure to business intelligence platforms (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Looker) and the ability to support data‑visualization initiatives.
  • Prior experience working in a remote, distributed team environment, demonstrating self‑motivation and disciplined time management.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and familiarity with cloud data warehouses.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data sets, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Problem‑Solving: Creative approach to troubleshooting data quality issues and optimizing pipeline performance.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills for working with cross‑functional teams, external partners, and senior leadership.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with evolving technology stacks, shifting priorities, and a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
