Senior Business Analyst
Application close date: 18 May 2026 The Position The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs, technology solutions, and operational delivery within a online-focused private tertiary education institution operating in the South African market. The role works closely with the Business Technology and Process Manager and the Projects Office across multiple concurrent initiatives, including system development, integrations, and process re-engineering. Given the size of the team, this role requires a pragmatic all-rounder who is comfortable operating strategically and hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Solution Design Elicit, analyse, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements, primarily based in existing business processes that need digitization. Design future-state business processes, system workflows, and supporting artefacts. Translate business needs into prioritized projects, requirements and user stories. Support solution evaluation and scope decisions with stakeholders. Challenge existing processing thinking in order to catalyze change. Project & Delivery Support Work with the Projects Office to support delivery of multiple initiatives in parallel. Contribute to backlog management, prioritisation, and planning activities. Assist in managing dependencies and risks across projects. Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement Act as a key interface between the business and external software development vendor, including approving cost estimates. Clarify requirements, review solution proposals, and provide feedback during delivery. Engage with internal stakeholders across academic, administrative, operational, and executive teams. Testing, Quality & Support Contribute to test planning, test case creation, execution, and UAT coordination. Support bug triage, prioritisation, and resolution tracking. Assist with post-implementation support and root-cause analysis. Change Management & Enablement Support change management activities including communications and training materials. Assist with user support during system rollouts. Promote adoption and business readiness. Required Skills & Experience Essential 8+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst. Experience working across multiple projects simultaneously. Strong requirements gathering and stakeholder management skills. Hands-on experience with testing, defect management, and implementation support. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment. Desirable Experience working with external software vendors. Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics or Microsoft technology ecosystem. Experience within education or regulated environments. Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery approaches. Personal Attributes Highly collaborative and relationship-oriented. Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability. Self-motivated and delivery-focused.
