As a Specialty Pharmacy Technician – Data Entry & Transplant in our Atlanta, GA CarePlus/Specialty Mail Order hub, you will be a critical link between patients, prescribers, and our clinical pharmacy team. Key Responsibilities

Core Pharmacy Technician Duties

  • Perform high‑volume data entry of specialty prescriptions, ensuring accuracy of patient demographics, medication details, and insurance information.
  • Screen incoming prescriptions for completeness; route questionable or incomplete orders to the supervising pharmacist for review.
  • Initiate outbound calls and fax communications with prescribers to obtain clarification, address formulary changes, and resolve substitution requests.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all communications, documenting outcomes in the pharmacy management system.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to prioritize urgent transplant orders, guaranteeing same‑day processing whenever possible.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and arenaflex‑specific regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, DEA, and state pharmacy board standards.

Customer Service & Patient Interaction

  • Provide courteous, empathetic phone support to patients and caregivers, answering medication‑related questions and guiding them through the refill process.
  • Assist patients in navigating insurance benefits, prior authorizations, and co‑pay assistance programs.
  • Escalate complex clinical inquiries to the pharmacist while maintaining a professional and reassuring demeanor.
  • Document patient interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) to ensure continuity of care.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in daily production meetings to align on workload, identify bottlenecks, and propose workflow enhancements.
  • Utilize arenaflex’s proprietary pharmacy software to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order turnaround time, error rate, and call resolution metrics.
  • Contribute to quality‑assurance audits, helping to maintain a zero‑defect culture.
  • Stay current on emerging specialty therapies, especially those related to transplant medicine, to provide informed support to prescribers and patients.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a specialty or high‑volume setting.
  • Current Georgia Pharmacy Technician certification (or eligibility to obtain certification within 90 days of hire).
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; additional coursework in pharmacy technology or health administration is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with pharmacy computer systems, preferably arenaflex’s proprietary platform or similar (e.g., Cerner, Epic, RxConnect).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medication information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Experience

  • Prior experience in a specialty pharmacy, particularly with transplant, oncology, or immunology products.
  • Call‑center or inbound/outbound pharmacy support experience, demonstrating comfort with high call volumes.
  • Background in prescription adjudication, including familiarity with insurance claim processes and formulary management.
  • Experience using electronic prescribing (e‑prescribe) and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) tools.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical information to prescribers and patients.
