[Remote] Developer and Operations Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. PlanetScape Ai is a rapidly growing company leveraging advancements in artificial intelligence and spatiotemporal data streams to inform humanitarian, human rights and environmental conservation policies. They are seeking a Software Developer and Operations Analyst to develop, deploy, and maintain Python-based analytic pipelines and client-facing experiences, while also ensuring the stability of processing pipelines and engaging with clients.
Responsibilities
- Create high performing, reliable Python-based geoprocessing modules leveraging ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python and open source geospatial libraries
- Prepare complex scripts or programs to automate functions within a desktop or web-based GIS environment
- Create or modify base files and assist in the preprocessing of data locally or in virtual environments
- Understand development best practices in developing and maintaining applications, including writing code, testing and debugging, source control and documentation
- Design and deploy cloud compute, storage and network infrastructure in Azure or AWS
- Develop stand-alone desktop or web-based software applications that integrate spatial and tabular data (e.g. client-facing dashboards and experiences with ArcGIS Online)
- Maintain and report on stability of tasked processing pipelines and resulting dashboards/platforms
- Perform checks and accuracy assessments on processing using ancillary datasets
- Task, analyze, annotate and publish high-resolution imagery
- Contribute to larger imagery-based studies in areas of interest
- Author and co-author analytical reports as needed
- Respond to customer queries and requests as directed by the Director of Development and Operations
- Attend and participate in client meetings
- Identify efficiencies and quality improvements to various analytic pipelines and workflows
- Identify new clients and/or services
- Ensure quality and high-cadence communication and dialogue between peers, management team, and clients
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (e.g. mathematics, applied and computational mathematics, computer science, engineering and applied science, geographical information systems, et.al.)
- 1-2 years of programming experience with Python (Scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)
- 1-2 years of experience working in a team environment
- Desire to work in a variety of capacities (i.e. all hands on deck) to drive the success of the team and company
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members and management about your work and time management
- Comfortable working in a transparent, accountable, and safe to fail fast team environment
- Creative thinking skills to effectively navigate new challenges and client questions
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and requests
- Familiarity with ArcPy or ArcGIS API
- Familiarity or willingness to operate in a Scrum project environment with 2-3 week sprints
