Why This Role Matters

At arenaflex, data is the lifeblood of every strategic initiative. As a Data Engineer on the Planned Operations Business Intelligence (BI) team, you will design, build, and operationalize robust data pipelines that transform raw information into actionable insights. Your work will directly influence product planning, inventory management, and customer experience across all arenaflex locations. If you thrive in fast‑paced, agile environments and love turning complex data challenges into elegant, automated solutions, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, and deliver data for arenaflex’s strategic BI platform.
  • Collaborate with data architects, product owners, and analytics teams to define data models, storage strategies, and integration patterns.
  • Implement ETL/ELT workflows using Informatica Cloud (IICS) and ensure they meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
  • Optimize MySQL databases and Azure‑based services (Azure SQL DW, ADLS, Azure Event Hub, Azure Data Factory) to accelerate data delivery and reduce latency.
  • Build and manage large‑scale data and NoSQL solutions, creating flexible data processing layers that support high‑value analytics.
  • Identify and automate manual processes, streamlining data flow and improving overall data reliability and quality.
  • Develop and enforce data governance standards, including data lineage, metadata management, and security compliance.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation and presentations for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct peer reviews of data architecture artifacts to ensure best practices and consistency across the organization.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions that keep arenaflex ahead of the competition.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience designing and operationalizing data pipelines with large, complex datasets.
  • Proven expertise with Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica Cloud (IICS).
  • Solid experience working with cloud platforms, specifically Azure services such as ADLS, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse (formerly Azure SQL DW), and Azure Event Hub.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement data integration patterns, including event‑driven and message‑based architectures (e.g., Kafka, Azure Event Hub).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and advanced query writing across multiple data sources (MySQL, SQL Server, CSV, JSON, XML, REST APIs).
  • Understanding of data lake, data warehouse, NoSQL, and data mesh concepts, with practical experience building solutions that leverage these paradigms.
  • Experience with version control and DevOps practices using Git and Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical ideas to business audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate) or equivalent credentials.
  • Programming experience in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages for data automation.
  • Familiarity with job scheduling tools such as UC4 (Automic) or Azure Automation.
  • Background in retail or e‑commerce data environments, understanding of SKU, inventory, and sales analytics.
  • Experience building data products that serve both operational and analytical users.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset, with a track record of delivering solutions in fast‑moving, agile teams.
