Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Senior Data Analyst – Information Productization & Insight Generation to join our remote Data Adventures team (renamed internally as the Data Adventures initiative). In this role, you will lead exploratory data investigations, design robust data solutions, and partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver insights that shape the future of our data‑driven product suite. You will work closely with the Product Management team, the Global Technology organization, and cross‑functional product groups to ensure that every data product we launch is grounded in rigorous analysis, high‑quality data, and clear business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Preparation & Cleansing: Extract, transform, and load (ETL) large‑scale data sets, removing errors, identifying outliers, and standardizing formats to create analysis‑ready data pipelines.
  • Exploratory Analysis & Insight Generation: Conduct deep‑dive investigations using statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and pattern recognition to uncover trends, anomalies, and growth opportunities.
  • Solution Development: Write production‑grade code—primarily in Python—and develop reusable scripts, libraries, and notebooks that enable scalable data processing and model deployment.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Support: Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for product strategy, pricing, inventory management, and customer experience.
  • Visualization & Reporting: Build compelling dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, ensuring that insights are accessible to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with developers, designers, product owners, and senior leadership to understand requirements, share findings, and iterate on data solutions.
  • Ethical Data Stewardship: Evaluate the ethical implications of data collection, storage, and analysis, championing best practices for privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, improve data quality, and enhance analytical methodologies across the organization.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Coach junior analysts, lead code reviews, and contribute to internal knowledge bases, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data analysis, data engineering, or a related field, preferably within retail, e‑commerce, or financial services.
  • Proven expertise in SQL and Python (including pandas, NumPy, and scikit‑learn) for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and model development.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement end‑to‑end data pipelines, from raw ingestion to clean, analysis‑ready datasets.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of turning ambiguous business problems into clear, data‑driven solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex findings to senior stakeholders and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, and the ability to craft intuitive, story‑driven dashboards.
  • Solid understanding of data quality principles, data governance, and best practices for data security and privacy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, remote work environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting quickly to changing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and productionizing predictive models.
  • Background in retail analytics, pricing optimization, or supply‑chain data science.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and experience implementing compliance controls.
  • Prior experience leading cross‑functional projects in a distributed, remote‑first organization.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to design experiments, conduct statistical testing, and interpret results with precision.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Python, SQL, and data‑pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or similar).
  • Problem‑Solving: Creative thinker who can break down complex challenges into manageable, data‑centric tasks.
  • Communication: Clear storyteller who can convey technical concepts in business‑friendly language.
  • Collaboration: Team player who builds strong relationships across product, engineering, and leadership.
  • Ethical Awareness: Commitment to responsible data usage, privacy, and security.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving technology landscapes.
