Key Responsibilities
- Database Operations & Monitoring: Investigate daily database and application issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
- Documentation & Architecture: Play a pivotal role in documenting existing architectures and designs, creating clear, maintainable reference material for future enhancements.
- Design & Implementation of Standards: Assist in the design, implementation, and support of standards and procedures for testing, capacity planning, maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Environment Management: Support multiple databases being built, configured, and maintained in both on‑premises and cloud environments, guaranteeing high availability and performance.
- SQL Server High‑Availability: Configure and maintain high‑availability solutions for SQL Server, including clustering, replication, and mirroring.
- Application Support: Partner with application teams to troubleshoot and resolve database‑related issues, providing expert guidance on performance tuning and best practices.
- Server‑Side Development: Develop server‑side application code in collaboration with infrastructure engineers, ensuring seamless integration with database layers.
- Patch Management: Deploy and manage new software releases, updates, and fixes across the database estate.
- Schema Design & Optimization: Create and enforce best practices for storage techniques, indexes, partitions, tables, and views to maximize query efficiency.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze and tune database performance by reviewing execution plans, indexing strategies, and query patterns.
- ETL Development: Design and maintain enterprise‑wide ETL processes using tools such as SSIS, .NET integrations, and T‑SQL scripts.
- Backup & Recovery Strategies: Implement robust backup strategies and generate comprehensive database reports for compliance and audit purposes.
- Security Management: Develop and enforce security models, manage database and application accounts, and conduct regular security audits.
- Disaster Recovery Testing: Plan, prepare, and test backup and recovery procedures for all production databases, ensuring readiness for unexpected events.
- Capacity Planning: Assess growth trends to forecast future database size requirements and proactively plan for scaling.
- Collaboration & Communication: Communicate design recommendations to infrastructure engineers and provide clear status updates to stakeholders.
- Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of arenaflex’s data initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a SQL Server DBA in large‑scale, multi‑site environments.
- Strong expertise with SQL Server high‑availability technologies (clustering, replication, mirroring).
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with SSIS and T‑SQL for ETL development and data manipulation.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering world‑class customer support and service excellence.
- Experience with cloud platforms—specifically arenaflex (formerly Microsoft Azure) – is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with reporting services (SSRS) and analytics services (SSAS) is a plus.
