Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Vergara Miller Law Firm is seeking a Human Resources Manager who is committed, accountable, and motivated to make a real impact. The role involves managing various human resources functions and processes to support the firm's legal professionals and staff while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the Leadership Team and participate in weekly L10 meetings
  • Develop and execute strategies aligned with the firm's vision and objectives
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable the HR, Recruitment, and Training & Development teams
  • Provide weekly updates to management on priorities, goals, progress, and key initiatives
  • Develop and maintain talent acquisition strategies and candidate pipelines
  • Oversee recruitment efforts and participate in HR, recruiting, and community events
  • Evaluate new hires early in their employment to ensure the right person is in the right role
  • Develop compensation structures and pay bands
  • Support and manage the 30-60-90-day performance review process
  • Collaborate with supervisors and leadership to set goals, conduct evaluations, and provide employee feedback
  • Assist in developing performance improvement plans for underperforming team members
  • Partner closely with the Training & Development Manager to enhance employee growth and development
  • Coordinate new hire start dates with recruiters
  • Manage onboarding communications, including welcome emails and role-specific onboarding plans
  • Oversee employee terminations and offboarding processes in a legal, ethical, and professional manner
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to ownership and leadership teams
  • Ensure completion of termination documentation, employment verifications, unemployment claims, final pay, benefits processing, and other separation requirements
  • Manage employee system access, subscriptions, and account deactivation
  • Maintain HR records, training documentation, employee evaluations, and organizational charts
  • Organize and manage HR files and documentation within Google Drive
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and employment regulations
  • Manage confidential HR reports, claims, and personnel documentation
  • Facilitate effective communication across the organization
  • Coordinate company announcements, policy updates, and firm-wide communications
  • Organize employee engagement activities, team-building events, holiday celebrations, birthdays, and work anniversaries
  • Foster trust, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture
  • Review attendance, scheduling, and shift discrepancies for hourly and contract employees
  • Coordinate payroll-related processes with the HR team and supervisors
  • Track attendance and timekeeping for payroll accuracy
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other company benefits
  • Support employees with benefits enrollment, questions, and issue resolution

Skills

  • Proven working experience as HR Director or other HR roles
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Prompt, reliable and highly organized
  • IT proficiency including ATS (Applicant Tracking System), Google Platform (G-Drive, G-Chat, G-docs, G-meet, G-sheet), Zoom, Drop Box
  • Handles calls, messages, emails, meetings & speaking with people within/out of the company in the HR setting
  • Communicates in detail of goals, tasks and challenges in order to support the company hiring and HR needs
  • Leadership, cross-functional teamwork, and exemplary dedication to the Vergara Miller Law Firm's core value statement
  • Initiative, a strong work ethic, and keen attention to detail
  • Manage various human resources functions and processes to support the firm's legal professionals and staff
  • Ensure that the firm's workforce is effectively managed, engaged, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
