[Remote] Director of Finance

Transformation Hospitality Solutions is seeking a Director of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership for a full-service branded hotel. The role involves overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and collaborating with hotel management to enhance profitability and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all hotel accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, income audit, payroll coordination, and cash management
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end close, financial statements, forecasts, and management reports in accordance with ownership and brand standards
- Prepare and analyze financial results, budgets, forecasts, and variance explanations for hotel leadership and ownership
- Communicate financial performance, trends, and risks clearly to the General Manager and ownership group
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and banking activity, ensuring timely deposits and disbursements
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and minimize financial risk
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including sales tax, occupancy tax, payroll tax, and licensing requirements
- Oversee audits and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and ownership representatives
- Ensure compliance with management company and brand accounting standards and policies
- Lead the annual budget process in collaboration with hotel leadership and ownership
- Monitor revenues and expenses daily to ensure alignment with forecast and budget expectations
- Analyze operating results and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability
- Support capital planning, including ROI analysis, bid review, and monitoring of approved capital projects
- Lead, train, and develop the hotel accounting team, promoting accuracy, accountability, and professional growth
- Establish clear expectations, workflows, and deadlines for the finance team
- Foster strong collaboration between Finance, Operations, Sales, and Revenue Management
- Ensure effective use of hotel financial and operational systems, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and POS platforms
- Maintain accurate financial data across systems and ensure proper system controls and reconciliations
Skills
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive hotel accounting experience, with full-service hotel experience required
- Strong knowledge of hotel accounting practices, including month-end close, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement analysis
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams
- Experience working directly with ownership groups and asset managers
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial results to non-financial leaders
- Prior experience as a Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, or Senior Accounting Manager in a branded hotel environment preferred
- Hotel accounting and reporting platforms such as M3, ProfitSword, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar
- Purchasing and inventory systems such as BirchStreet
- PMS and POS systems such as Opera, Lightspeed, Toast, or similar
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
