Director, Product, AI

Remote · USA Full-time New today

Director of Product, AI (Remote Canada or US) Product | Full-time | Remote (Canada or U.S.) About Our Client Our client is building a vertical software platform for the lumber and building materials industry, providing dealers and distributors with a modern suite of tools spanning eCommerce, payments, AI-powered ordering, augmented reality, and deep ERP integrations. The platform connects dealers, contractors, and suppliers through a commerce layer designed specifically for the realities of the industry, including job-site deliveries, trade accounts, ERP-native pricing, and mobile-first ordering. As the sector continues its digital transformation, our client is building the technology infrastructure that will help define its future. The business is scaling quickly, with more than 130 dealers live across North America and thousands of transactions flowing through the platform every day. The next phase of growth is focused on deeper integrations, smarter automation, AI-driven ordering intelligence, and creating a product experience that drives long-term contractor loyalty. The Opportunity Our client is seeking a Director of Product who thrives as a hands-on builder and strategic leader. This is a true player-coach role for someone who enjoys setting product direction while staying close to customers, solving complex problems, and helping teams deliver exceptional outcomes. The successful candidate will own the product roadmap, execution, and results. One day may involve leading customer discovery sessions with dealers, while the next could mean prototyping new capabilities or working through a challenging integration issue. Equally important is the ability to leverage AI agents and automation to scale product operations and maximize team output. Reporting directly to the VP of Strategy & Partnerships, this individual will lead a small but high-performing product team while partnering closely with engineering, design, customer success, and commercial stakeholders. Success will be measured by product velocity, impact, and business outcomes rather than the size of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Product Roadmap & Platform Strategy Define and execute the roadmap across the core platform, including ordering, payments, catalog management, integrations, and AI capabilities. Translate customer feedback, market trends, and business priorities into a clear, sequenced product strategy that balances short-term wins with long-term platform value. Hands-On Product Leadership Lead product discovery, prototype solutions, and drive features from concept through launch. Stay close to customers and be willing to dive into technical edge cases, including ERP integrations and dealer workflows. Build systems and processes that use AI and automation to improve product delivery and operational efficiency. Travel periodically to meet with customers and better understand their needs firsthand. AI Product Development Own the evolution of the company's AI-powered ordering automation capabilities. Help shape and scale a product that is already delivering meaningful differentiation in the market and has the potential to become a major competitive advantage. Integration & Ecosystem Strategy Lead the product strategy for ERP and platform integrations across the dealer ecosystem. Work across systems such as Epicor BisTrack, Epicor Eagle, ECI Spruce, and DMSI Agility, making thoughtful decisions about where to build, partner, or maintain existing capabilities. Team Leadership Lead and mentor a small team of Product Managers, ranging from Associate PMs to senior-level talent. Provide clarity, remove roadblocks, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Recruit and develop strong product talent while maintaining a high standard of execution without unnecessary process. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Sales to ensure alignment and execution across the organization. Bring together commercial, customer, and technical perspectives to drive effective product decisions. Product Operations & AI Workflows Build and refine the operating model for how product work gets done. Develop AI-assisted workflows for feature request management, competitive intelligence, roadmap communication, status reporting, and product-to-engineering handoffs. Continuously look for opportunities to automate, accelerate, or eliminate manual processes to help the product organization scale efficiently. What They're Looking For 8+ years of product management experience, ideally within complex B2B SaaS or vertical software environments. 3+ years of experience leading and developing Product Managers. Demonstrated success owning business outcomes, with the ability to point to measurable impact driven by product decisions. Strong understanding of AI product development, including the practical application of AI technologies to create trusted, high-value user experiences. Experience implementing AI-assisted workflows and automation to improve internal product operations and accelerate delivery cycles. Deep familiarity with integration-heavy environments, including ERP systems, payments, or other complex third-party ecosystems. Excellent customer discovery skills, with a track record of incorporating direct user feedback into product strategy. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear product documentation and concise executive updates. Comfortable making decisions in ambiguous environments and taking ownership of results. A systems-thinking mindset, viewing product organizations as interconnected workflows that can be designed and optimized through a combination of people, process, and technology. Willingness to travel regularly to meet with customers and partners.

Nice to Have

Experience in the lumber and building materials, distribution, or adjacent industries. Background building mobile-first products for field-based or frontline users. Experience in vertical SaaS or industry-specific cloud platforms. Previous product leadership experience within a high-growth or early-stage technology company. Experience helping organizations transition toward AI-native product development and leveraging that transformation to increase product and engineering velocity. Compensation & Equity The compensation package for this opportunity includes a base salary in the $180,000 to $200,000 CAD/USD range (commensurate with experience), along with a meaningful stock option package. As an early product leader joining a high-growth Series A company, you'll have the opportunity to participate directly in the value you're helping create. Our client is scaling rapidly, and the equity component is designed to reward someone who wants to play a significant role in building and growing a category-defining business. Apply To This Job
